Yiru joined the lab in the fall of 2023 as an undergraduate student. He is a recent Computer Science graduate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research combines machine learning and autonomous robotics, focusing on robot locomotion and Sim-to-Real transfer. He develops deep reinforcement-learning algorithms that help robots understand physical principles and transfer skills learned in simulation to the real world. His goal is to enable robots to learn and adapt in a human-like way.
